Let's break down the process:
The first thing you need to decide before you start is the end result! The format you distribute your ebook really should be decided before you get started.
For me there really is only one choice. Adobe Portable Document Format or PDF as it is commonly known. There are many reasons for this but here are the main ones:
1.You will have no problem with fonts or images as once you export your ebook to PDF it becomes a self contained item and is not reliant on the other software on the computer to be read.
2.It is quite difficult to “rip” a PDF so while it is not impossible, you will be making it difficult for people to steal your work.
3.The Adobe Acrobat Reader that allows people to open and read a PDF is very widely used and even if someone does not have it on their machine, it is available as a free download from the Adobe website.
4.Once your book is formatted for the PDF format it will be quite a small file size and easy to distribute.
I could spend all day listing reasons why PDF is the best format but ultimately you could distill it down to this: You want the largest possible number of people to be a ble to read you r book aand PDF is the best way to achieve this.
