Firstly, there is always an element of luck required and things are no different here. Then there is also that element of being able to look at the details of something that's happening even when it's happening at a pace and being able to keep a cool head and assess the best way to proceed.
In this game, you'll be playing against the computer. You both have the same number of ships to start with and as each of you fire shots you will either hit or miss and as the game progresses you'll be able to better assess where your enemy's fleet is hiding.
Your fleet will have the damage inflicted upon it by the computer's fleet during the course of the game and the object of the game is to destroy all of the opposing ships before they can destroy all of yours.
To be the computer's fleet you're going to need to develop a level of skill and you will also need a little bit of luck that usually is an integral part of any victory.
